Papers (1986) of Raymond Waldemar Wargelin (b. 1911), a Lutheran clergyman and educator, consist of unpublished writings including As I Saw It (Memoirs of Raymond W. Wargelin) [a dictated autobiography]; Suomi Synod Ministerium, 1876-1972; When the Suomi Synod was Served by Pastors From Finland; and Social and Theological Profiles of the Suomi Synod Ministerium. Included is a listing of congregations of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church, Suomi Synod. Also included are writings (mainly unpublished) and speeches by Wargelin and others dealing with religion, Finnish American history, personal history, and the history of the Suomi Synod and the Suomi Conference of the Lutheran Church of America.

Raymond Waldemar Wargelin (b. 1911), a Lutheran clergyman and educator, was born in Republic, Michigan. He served Suomi Synod Lutheran congregations in Berkeley and Reedley, California, and Fairport Harbor, Ohio; taught theology at Suomi College (Michigan) and later served as president; was executive director of the Suomi Synod Luther League; and was editor-in-chief of the Lutheran Counselor.
